for the woman who is ready to birth in confidence power

intentional birth doula support for Salt Lake and Utah County

Hi Friend, I'm Reyna.

Birth work has been calling to me my entire life, and having my own children prepared me to step into it fully. I found my own confidence and clarity slowly through the years as I prepared for each baby. My own births ranged from disappointing to perfect to powerful, but each a deeply spiritual experience. Each one brought me deeper strength and profound joy that have influenced every aspect of my life and led me to where I am today. I am confident and assured in our power as women to birth our children the way that we want. I don't want to be the source of your confidence – I want to help you listen to your own intuition and walk beside you in this beautiful rite of passage.

A Doula’s Presence

Birth is sacred. It is yours. But that doesn’t mean you have to walk it alone.

As your doula, I am not here to tell you how to birth. I am here to hold space, anchor you in love, and reflect back the strength you already carry. I walk beside you—offering knowledge, presence, and reassurance as you move through one of the most profound transformations of your life.

You already have everything you need. My role is simply to remind you of that.

I believe that birth belongs to the woman who is having the baby.
I believe that birth is best left untouched by routine medical interventions.
I believe that birth is safest when left to guide itself and that modern medicine is a miracle to be utilized when necessary.
But above all, I believe in you and your ability to give birth and follow your intuition.

What i believe

It genuinely brings tears to my eyes even thinking about the experience I had with her. Her presence, knowledge and guidance was priceless to me. She was there for me through my entire pregnancy, delivery and even after the birth. She was nothing short of a sister to me. I feel like she cared about my birthing experience and my baby as if it was her own. I’m convinced there is no other person on this planet that would be a better choice to help prepare and guide you to bring your child into the world. Without her I would have absolutely had a scheduled C- section, it is only because of her I was able to experience a natural labor. Besides being uncommonly kind, sensitive, patient and in tune Reyna is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about all things birthing and babies. She communicates extremely well and knows what to say and when to say it. She is the complete package and more. I feel so blessed I was able to have her on my team.

Birth is sacred and intimate. Inviting someone into your birth space requires connection and friendship! We will start with a free first meeting so we can decide if we would like to move forward together.

First Meeting

You can expect me to come to your home for several prenatal visits where we will go over your birth plans, birth education for you and your partner, and anything else you might need. I will be on call for your birth from 37 weeks on. When labor starts, I’m yours as soon as you need me. I will be with you until your baby has arrived and stay until you are comfortably settled in together. I’ll come to your home a few days after your birth for a postpartum visit or two. I am also available throughout all of this for phone calls, texting, and any questions you might have.

Prenatal, Birth & Postpartum

I have exclusively nursed all 4 of my children past 2 years old and actively participate in local breastfeeding support groups. I also have extensive experience with volunteer breastfeeding support and a collection of slings and books I'd love to share with you.

What It’s Like to Have Me By Your Side

My Birth Stories

the births that shaped me

In 2017 I was pregnant with my first baby and I knew I didn’t want an epidural. I understood the benefits to me and my baby to have an unmedicated birth and I was very afraid of needles! My husband and my mom accompanied me to the hospital when my water broke and I told them “don’t let me get an epidural!” 8 hours later of back to back, unrelenting contractions, I had a cervical exam and was only 3 cm dilated. I was so afraid. My husband and my mom tried so hard to help me, but the hospital midwife said I needed an epidural. I got one and I was devastated. From there came a cascade of interventions that still affect me and my child today. I struggled with postpartum anxiety and breastfeeding was very difficult for the first 3 months. I carried my grief for a year, until I became pregnant again and used it as fuel for learning how to birth a different way.

After devouring all the books about physiological birth and consuming all the positive birth stories and videos I could find, I hired a wonderful doula and walked into my redemptive second birth. This time, with a midwife who knelt next to me on the floor for hours and told me I could do it, I did the hardest and most powerful thing I’ve ever done. I can’t say I enjoyed it! But I can say it healed my soul. My body and my soul glided through postpartum with ease and joy.

Two years later, I became pregnant a third time and was delighted/terrified to find out it was twins! After my first pregnancy ended in miscarriage of twins at 14 weeks, I always knew that twins were destined to come my way. I dreamed of twins as a young girl (probably because Anne of Green Gables had them!) and even though I understood how much work it was going to be, I was excited for two babies at once. The pregnancy quickly became a trial by fire with extreme nausea and hyperemesis, along with the terrible news that licensed midwives cannot care for the pregnancy or delivery of twins in the state of Utah. After being unable to find the right unlicensed midwife for me, I started to go through doctors. Each one I met with was unrelenting in their insistence of intervention. I hired my wonderful doula and she helped me find a doctor who was confident in my ability to have an unmedicated birth. After a month of prodromal labor, I finally felt like the time had come. My doula was very ill and my doctor was not on call. The doctor who WAS on call was not onboard with physiological birth and spent the night trying to get me to go to the OR to deliver. My backup doula was the perfect support and, in spite of all the obstacles, I was able to serenely enter the portal to a birth that changed my life. My twins were born unmedicated on the hospital floor, 3 minutes apart, despite the nurse’s and doctor’s loud protests.

Some days I wish I could go back and have a peaceful home birth, to do it on my own terms and feeling safe and loved in my own home. But each of my births changed me and shaped me into the woman I am. They are a part of my story and I will forever be grateful for what they each taught me. Now it is my privilege to walk with women while they shape their own stories.

I don’t believe that nurturing women at their birth requires a certification; innately loving and caring for someone else isn’t something that can be taught in a class. I do believe it requires passion and humility for learning from other wise women. So my “credentials” are a bit unique!

- I am part of an ongoing doula mentorship that includes several monthly educational calls and access to a group of over 200 doulas around the world who I can reach out to for help at any moment.
- I am in the midst of an intensive, year long holistic birth education course that will result in a holistic doula certification, certified postpartum doula, professional childbirth consultant certification, family advocate certification, certified homeopathic consultant, and a holistic midwife diploma.
- I am in constant pursuit of learning and look forward to updating this information with future certifications and skills!

Who are you certified with?

Because the hospital makes physiological birth very difficult, there is a lot of preparation needed to have a successful unmedicated experience. I require all my hospital families to take a recommended birthing course to understand and prepare for their experience. I will be your guide throughout and here for any questions or conversations about what you learn. Please reach out if this is you and I’ll send you more information.

I have to have a hospital birth for a medical reason. Can you still help me prepare for a unmedicated birth?

If you are planning a hospital birth with an epidural or elective c-section, please reach out, I would love to share my list of incredible doulas who will align with your desires and will serve you with so much love and joy.

There are many valid reasons for choosing a hospital birth–I gave birth 3 times in that setting and understand why women make that choice. However, the hospital is not an environment that is conducive to physiological birth.  Additionally, attending a hospital birth requires a higher level of care from me. Because of this, I am very selective about the births I take that are planned for the hospital environment. I have increased rates for them to compensate for my additional care and I have specific requirements for the parents:

1. Your provider must be someone who respects birth. I have a recommended list of providers as well as ones I will not work with.
2. You must either attend one of my recommended birthing classes OR have already had an unmedicated birth.

*For friends and family who need a hospital birth for medical reasons, I will joyfully and enthusiastically support you in whatever that looks like.*
